This superb movie is a stark portrayal of life among a group of heroin addicts who hang out in New York City's infamous "Needle Park".
However, played against this setting is also a love story between a young addict, and small-time hustler called Bobby (Al Pacino) and a homeless girl called Helen (Kitty Winn). Helen finds in her relationship with Bobby the stability she craves and he the security he too craves.
However when she becomes addicted too, life goes downhill for them both as their addiction deepens, eventually leading to a series of betrayals.
But, in spite of it all, the relationship between Bobby and Helen endures. This movie is a stark portrayal of life among a group of heroin addicts and is often reviewed as the best of the "druggie" films of the '70's.
