The Muppets take on Dickens' festive classic, directed by Brian Henson, starring a remarkably game Michael Caine as Scrooge, with Kermit as Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as his wife and Gonzo as Charles Dickens himself, acting as the narrator. All of the elements of the story are faithfully adhered to, albeit it interspersed with songs, and the conclusion is as heart warming as Dickens' original.
The story begins with Bob Cratchit asking his boss, misery guts Ebenezer Scrooge, for a day off on Christmas Eve. Although Scrooge eventually agrees, he goes home a bitter old man, resenting all the festive cheer (helped along by some Muppet-style tunes). That night, Scrooge is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, the ghost of Christmas present and the ghost of the future. All the ghosts help Scrooge to see the joy in Christmas and how his life will be doomed if he continues to be such a grump.
With his new-found love for Christmas, Scrooge spreads festive joy about the town and gives Bob Cratchit and his family a Christmas to remember.
A festive favourite full of comedy moments, joyful songs and heart-warming cheer.
