Brad Anderson's stark drama stars Christian Bale as Trevor Reznik, a factory machinist who accidentally maims a colleague. He becomes convinced he's the victim of a secret conspiracy and retreats into himself, eating nothing, not sleeping and becoming more and more paranoid. In spite of Reznik's physical and mental state, both call girl Stevie and coffee shop waitress Marie take an interest in him.
