Hill House was built a century ago by a textile baron for his wife and future children. But when the marriage produced no children to fill the mansion with noise and little footsteps, the house took on a more sinister aspect and waited...
Until now... when three young folk turn up at the door little suspecting what lies inside. Caretaker Bruce Dern and his wife Marian Seldes hardly go near the house and leave it well alone at night. Dr David Marrow (Liam Neeson) has lured the trio there by telling them they are participating in an investigation into sleeping disorders. Technically, they are, but they don't realise Dr Marrow's real motives until they are already bedded down in the house.
Dr Marrow is actually setting up an experiment into fear. Theodora (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Luke (Owen Wilson) and Nell (Lili Taylor) have a sleepless night ahead of them. And with Jan De Bont behind the camera, it promises to be a wild ride.
The house depicted in the film actually exists. It is located in England, specifically in the town of Grantham in Lincolnshire. The home town, in fact of one Margaret Hilda Thatcher. Hmm..
Superb film!!
