The Exorcist (1973)

Directed by
William Friedkin

Described as one of the most talked about, successful and reviled horror films of all time, even now, The Exorcist still has incredible potent power and remains an out-and-out shocker.

The Oscar-winning film, adapted from William Peter Blatty's bestselling novel, focuses on Regan MacNeil (Linda Blair), an adolescent girl, living with her mother Chris (Ellen Burstyn) in Georgetown in Washington. Regan is showing bizarre symptoms, including levitation and phenomenal strength.

Having tried a number of medical avenues, Regan's mother goes to see a priest who is also a psychiatrist. He believes that Regan is possessed and he and another priest experienced in exorcism try to drive the spirit from Regan before she dies...

Highly recommended.
