Eddie Murphy plays Thomas Jefferson Johnson, a charming Florida conman, in this passable 1992 comedy. Johnson sees a great opportunity in politics, and uses the passing of the long-time congressman from his district, who he just happens to share a name with, to get elected to Congress.
He soon learns the nature of the game and takes advantage of his power to the fullest, until he falls in love with a lobbyist who encourages him do something worthwhile.
