The Black Shield of Falworth (1954)

Directed by
Rudolph Maté

Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh star in director Rudolph Maté's medieval action-adventure set during the reign of King Henry IV. Myles Falworth and his sister Meg have been raised as peasants in the countryside. But after Meg receives unwelcome attention from the Earl of Alban, their guardian Diccon Bowman sends the siblings to Mackworth Castle for safety. There, Myles instantly falls in love with Lady Anne, the daughter of the Earl of Mackworth, the castle's owner. Obviously, there can be no possibility of romance between a noble and a peasant. However, Myles is oblivious to his true heritage, which, in due course, will afford him opportunities to both woo his sweetheart and avenge his father's murder.
