When US astronaut Spencer Armacost (Johnny Depp) goes offline for two minutes in deep space, Houston starts to pay close attention.
While repairing machinery outside his craft, he is involved in an accident which nearly claims his life.
However, Armacost is quickly back in contact with his NASA pals and returns to Earth without any other extraterrestrial capers.
But when he gets back to his wife Jillian (Charlize Theron), she realises that he is slightly different. She becomes pregnant with twins but he remains curiously distant. What really happened up there?
With nods to Roman Polanski's 1968 horror classic Rosemary's Baby and a couple of astronauts-in-trouble movies, this is a compelling modern chiller which builds slowly and sucks you in.
