Andrew Garfield returns as the webbed wonder in this spectacular superhero sequel.
Following their graduation, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and his girlfriend Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) might have been planning a life together, but the covert crime-fighter is determined to fulfil his promise to Gwen’s late father and protect her from harm. Peter ruefully suggests she stay away from him and his hazardous line of work; and it’s not long before he is called upon to don the Spidey suit and throw himself headlong into danger once more.
When outcast Oscorp employee Max Dillon (Jamie Foxx) accidentally falls into a tank of genetically modified electric eels, he becomes supercharged supervillain Electro and it’s up to Spider-Man to stop him spreading carnage across New York. Meanwhile, Peter’s childhood friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) desperately needs a cure for the hereditary disease that killed his father, and believes the blood of the mysterious Spider-Man could be the answer.
There’s breathtaking action aplenty in this follow-up to the successful 2012 rebooting of the Marvel franchise. Real-life couple Garfield and Stone give the film plenty of heart too, generating a charming chemistry, while the supporting cast is an impressive mix of rising stars and accomplished performers, including Dane DeHaan, Felicity Jones, Sally Field and Paul Giamatti.
