Charlie Barrett (Christopher Walken) is trying to shed his former Mafia connections when he was known as Carlo Bertolucci. But his face is well known and when a bunch of rich kids need to find the men responsible for kidnapping the sister of one of their friends, Barrett is the obvious target.
Their poorly thought out plan to kidnap Barrett is successfully, if not smoothly, executed and they are soon holed up in Ira's parents' mansion. However, Ira is unaware of his friends' plans, believing the boys are coming round to play poker whilst his uptight parents are away. When he returns to the house to find a Mafia boss tied to his father's favourite chair with a finger missing (the kidnappers cut off Elise's finger so the boys cut off Barrett's), Ira (Johnny Galecki) understandably freaks out.
However, his friends manage to calm him down and they continue to bully Barrett into calling his people to find out where Elise is being held and to stump up the $2million ransom that the kidnappers demand. But his contacts are convinced that one of the group must have helped the kidnappers and, as tensions mount within the group, Barrett plays one off against another in a bid to force a sleight of hand and have the insider reveal himself.
As the plot twists and turns towards its conclusion, will the identity of the insider finally be revealed and what fate awaits him?
