Strike (1924)

Sergei M. Eisenstein's first feature film is a stunning example of the then-radical 'montage' style of editing, fast-moving and telling the story of a factory strike inspired by the suicide of a workmate wrongly accused of stealing. Told in six chapters, this is a classic example of Russian post-revolution cinema and laid the basis for his subsequent masterpieces The Battleship Potemkin and October.
