Noir thriller starring Barbara Stanwyck, in an Oscar nominated role, and Burt Lancaster, directed by Anatole Litvak. Wealthy, neurotic and bedridden, Leona Stevenson is alone in her apartment waiting for her husband Henry to return from work. Unknown to her, Henry has been stealing chemicals from his workplace and selling them to gangsters, who are now blackmailing him. As he is late, she tries to phone him but gets a crossed line and overhears a plot to murder a woman at 11.15pm that same night. Leona makes frantic calls to the police but they do not believe her. She then phones Henry's ex-girlfriend Sally, who helps her piece together why Henry is late; as do other of her and Henry's friends and associates. And, as time ticks by and she amasses more information, she starts to come to a terrifying realisation. First play on Film4.
