Thriller about a career girl who replaces her philandering boyfriend with a new frumpy flatmate whose friendship turns to psychotic - and murderous - jealousy.
Allison "Allie" Jones (Bridget Fonda) is a young woman who has recently thrown out her philandering ex-boyfriend for the last time, but finds herself having to place a personal ad for a room-mate, to share the bills.
Allie places the ad in her local paper asking for another, single female to share her home and bills. However, on the start of interviewing, Allie quickly realises that this may not be a simple and quick task as all the applicants so far have been complete freaks!
Thankfully though, along comes the level headed Hedra Carlson (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who seems to be just the right person for the room, but she has secret past which haunts her...
Allie and Hedra soon become close, but Hedra's devotion turns to jealousy when Allie's boyfriend enters the picture again.
Intent on getting her revenge, she begins by transforming herself into Allie's mirror image, before really reigning terror on Allie.
