Lucia is a Spanish waitress who, devastated by the death of her boyfriend Lorenzo, seeks solace in the beautiful Mediterranean island he talked about. But as she reads his diaries, so she discovers he had an affair with the landlady of the apartments she's staying in and, without knowing, left her pregnant. Also staying there is Carlos, whose daughter died as the result of an unwitting act by Lorenzo. As the three begin to discover their links to him, so their lives become intertwined in Julio Medem's fascinating drama.
