Directed by
Asif Kapadia

This fascinating and very moving documentary charts the rise, and tragic fall, of Formula One racing legend Ayrton Senna.

The Brazilian driver entered the world of F1 in 1984, shaking up the sport with his charisma, outspokenness and prodigious talent. Using unseen archive footage, Kapadia's film reflects on Senna's astounding career including his famous rivalry with teammate Alain Prost, who he would controversially pip to win his first World Drivers' Championship.

Featuring a combination of exhilarating racing action and revealing home-video footage, Kapadia's awardwinning doc delves into Senna's life on and off the track. Following its subject from his days as an aspiring champ until his tragic death in the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, Senna provides a poignant insight into how the Brazilian's passing devastated not just the sport, but a nation.

Highly acclaimed, Senna featured in many critics' best of 2011 lists and triumphed at the BAFTAs, picking up gongs for best documentary and best editing.
