Since first introducing himself onto the world stage next to Leonardo Di Caprio in Danny Boyle's 2000 cult hit The Beach, Guillaume Canet has spent the last decade cementing his place as France's hottest movie talent both in front of and behind the camera.
Over the last 10 years he has appeared in nearly 25 roles and directed 5 films, including one
of French Cinema's biggest international hits of 2006, Tell No One, for which he won a prestigious Best Director César award.
This October Cinémoi will present a season of films dedicated to the talented young heartthrob, beginning with Rivals which follows two brothers on opposite sides of the law. Set in gritty 1970s Paris, Gabriel is about to be released from prison after ten years behind bars. His brother François is a cop who he is in love with the wife of a criminal he has put in jail. Reuniting is not easy and bad boy Gabriel's return to society is far from smooth.
Rivals explores the two brothers' relationship, split apart due to their life choices but united by blood ties.
