Former black-ops agent Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) retired from the CIA years ago, but his skills are called back into action when his home is invaded in the middle of the night. Killing a gang of assassins in self-defence, Frank immediately travels from Ohio to Kansas City, where he fears his friend and confidant Sarah (Mary Louise Parker) could be in danger.
With CIA agent William Cooper (Karl Urban) on his tail, Frank vows to find out who was behind the murder attempt, and with Sarah reluctantly by his side, sets about reassembling his old team.
