This is a heart-warming comedy about two young boys who won't give up on the pursuit of their dreams.
Eleven-year-old Gerry (Chris Beattie) is still at school, while his best mate, Sewell (Greg McLane) is 17 and unemployed (in fact - unemployable) meaning that the motley pair are totally penniless. Gerry is the smallest and smartest, while Sewell is a big slob of a lad with no imagination. However, they still both wish for better things out of life, and plan on obtaining them.
Their ultimate dream is, of course, in owning two season tickets to their beloved football club, Newcastle FC. Yet the tickets cost £1000 - and they're £1000 short.
But they're nothing if not resourceful, and they set themselves a mission to raise the cash. They stop sniffing solvents, boozing, buying fags and set out to become budding entrepreneurs.
Shoplifting proves the most lucrative. As well as adopting a cuddly wee dog and stealing Alan Shearer's sports car, the lads have a great year. Trying, after all, is a whole lot more fun than sitting in the house waiting for winter.
