Priceless (2006)

Pretty Woman meets Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in this offbeat French romcom when serial gold-digger Irene (Audrey Tautou, pictured) mistakes a hotel dogsbody Jean (Gad Elmaleh) for a wealthy guest. But after taking the lovestruck schmuck for all he's got, Irene provides her seductive expertise when he finds a sugar mummy of his own.

In a luxury hotel on the Côte d'Azur, the pair plot to take all they can from two wealthy residents. But their grand scheming unravels when Irene sees Jean with his female target... and doesn't like it.

Writer/director Pierre Salvadori follows-up his 2003 romcom Après vous... with an off-beat romance that brings Breakfast At Tiffany's to the French Riviera. Tautou proves adept at playing a cold-hearted schemer in a beautifully-shot production that makes the most of its moneyed backdrop. It's a witty re-spin of a much-loved plot.
