This high-quality eco-thriller - about the race to halt a virus that is threatening to wipe out the population of the entire planet - is top-notch. Released in 1995, Dustin Hoffman (pictured) is tremendous as the army medic who's desperate to stop the outbreak, and the stellar cast includes Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey and a truly nasty Donald Sutherland.
As the film unfolds, the search for an antidote seems fruitless, and the mysterious new disease spreads from an African village to the US. Despite the danger to human life, however, powerful political forces want the truth about the disease kept quiet. Highly recommended.
