Richard Quine's comedy, with Jack Lemmon in his first starring role as Private Hogan, one of a group of bored GIs stationed at a medical centre in France. A party with the nurses would raise morale but the nurses are officers and fraternising with the men is forbidden. But Hogan isn't going to let a detail like that stand in his way and with the help of Sergeant Skibo, a fixer and Mme LaFour, a hotel owner who likes helping GIs - for a price, he sets out to make the dream a reality.
