Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello tells of intense love, power, corruption and jealousy, leading to a tragic climax. Saif Ali Khan is dynamic and sinister in the role of Langda Tyagi, and won many awards for his performance in the role, which he regards as among his finest performances. Bhardwaj renames Desdemona, Othello, Cassio and Iago, transposing the drama to political Uttar Pradesh in northern India.
