Mischief Night is Yorkshire's unique take on Halloween, held on November 4, when minor acts of troublemaking are tolerated.
Director Penny Woolcock's film takes the night as its central premise, with Kelli Hollis as Tina, living on a Leeds housing estate with her unruly kids. The estate is pretty evenly split between white and Asian families, which allows Tina to meet up with her ex-lover Immie, now stuck in a loveless arranged marriage.
But there are underlying tensions, with the mullah at the local mosque showing jihad-promoting videos and both sides involved in the local, lucrative and roaring drugs trade.
As Mischief Night approaches, the racial tensions begin to reach a dangerous level.
