Richard Thorncroft, the star of 1980s sci-fi cop show Mindhorn, sets out to make it in Hollywood, but ends up with his life and career in ruins. Years later, he gets the chance to be a real hero when the police need his help. A dangerous fugitive is on the loose, who believes Detective Mindhorn is real and will only speak to him.
