Michael Felgate (Hugh Grant) is an Englishman living and working in New York City. Currently employed as an auctioneer at one of the most prestigious art auction rooms in the city, he meets a young woman called Gina Vitale (Jeanne Triplehorn) and the two start dating.
However when he proposes to Gina she declines.. and he soon realises why.
Michael soon discovers that his beloved's father is, in fact, a major mobster called the notorious Frack Vitale (James Caan) and now he finds himself slipping deeper and deeper into trouble as he tries to please his fiancee's family.
However things start to get really out of hand when Gina's godfather, Vito Graziosi (Burt Young) starts laundering his own talentless and gore-ridden paintings through Michael's arthouse which gets the FBI into the picture.
A really funny film that Hugh Grant has been perfectly chosen for, playing the innocent and ever-polite, don't want to offend anyone, typical British gentleman.
