Love and Basketball (2000)

Directed by
Gina Prince-Bythewood

The time is 1981 and Monica Wright (Kyla Pratt) has just moved into a new neighbourhood.

Next door to her lives Quincy McCall (Glenndon Chatman) who is the same age as her, and shares her unrelented passion for Basketball, as his dad, Zeke (Dennis Haysbert) plays.

The two share a love-hate relationship which stays with them until they go to high school, with Monica's (Sanaa Lathan) edge and Quincy's (Omar Epps) top-dog attitude separating them, except when Quincy's parents argue and he climbs through Monica's window to sleep on the floor.

As high school ends, they finally get together as a couple, but within a year, with both of them playing ball at USC, Quincy's relationship with his father takes an ugly turn, and it leads to a break up with Monica.

Some years later, their pro careers at a crossroads, they meet again. It's time for a final game of one-on-one with high stakes.
