Spencer, an avowed 'cat person' retreats to a beach town resort to work on his thesis, accompanied by his beloved feline friend. At the same time, the recently dumped Lara hopes to escape the shambles of her life back home by visiting the same resort with her dog. When a reservation mix-up leaves the pair sharing the same rental home, they all have to figure out how to get along - despite their natural differences.
