hears about a dog show with a $5000 prize he decides to get a dog and enter, to win the money and buy the comic. But he doesn't bargain for the fact that he comes to love Tyco, the accident prone, loveable mutt he rescues from the pound so that he can enter the contest. His classmate Emily helps him train Tyco, but the two must also thwart cunning plots from other dog owners who want to stop Tyco winning. In the end Calvin learns to appreciate the values of true friendship, responsibility and hard work, with the help of Man's Best Friend.
