A 12th Century Count named Comte Godefroy de Montmirail (Jean Reno) and his kanve, Jacquouille (Christian Clavier) are on the run after the Count accidentally killed his father-in-law-to-be.
Desperate to escape any legal wrangles they visit the local sorcerer, Eusebius (Pierre Vial) who decides that the best thingto do qwould be to travel back in time to prevent the incident from ever happening.
However Eusebius is getting old now.. and senile beyond belief... and transports them forward in time to the 20th Century.
Desperate to find a way to the home he knows, the Count enlists the help of his descendents whilst desperately trying to come to terms with the cultural and technological changes that is the present day.
