This highly acclaimed and compelling gritty drama about alcoholic destruction won Nicolas Cage the Best Actor Oscar.

Mike Figgis's film focuses on the love shared by a couple who have hit rock bottom. Alcoholic screenwriter Ben Sanderson (Cage, pictured), fired from his Hollywood job, moves to Las Vegas with the intention of drinking himself to death. He meets Sera (Elisabeth Shue, pictured), a prostitute on the run from her pimp. The couple fall in love and he moves in. They make a pact that she will not ask him to stop drinking and he will not question her lifestyle.

Highly recommended.
