In a boy-meets-girl drama, ex-navy veteran Larry Crowne (Tom Hanks) loses his job at a store for not having enough qualifications and decides to enrol at college. There he is befriended by a dynamic young woman called Talia who helps him rediscover his youth, and his public speaking professor Mercedes (Julia Roberts)... who is as lost and lonely as he is.
