Kung fu is in trouble and there's only one oversized, clumsy panda that can save it. No sooner has Po Ping (Jack Black) grasped the ancient oriental art than murderous peacock Lord Shen (Gary Oldman) discovers a deadly weapon to end the rule of all kung fu masters: cannon fire.
On the orders of Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), Po must assemble The Furious Five, including Tigress (Angelina Jolie) and Monkey (Jackie Chan), and travel to Gongmen City to confront Lord Shen. But there is more to this mission than Po imagines, with a history between him and Shen that neither of them realises until they come face to face.
The journey will be fraught with obstacles, and only the most accomplished kung fu master will travel without mishap. Unfortunately, the journey is led by Po, so expect mistakes and hilarity along the way.
Following on from the hugely popular Kung Fu Panda, Jennifer Yuh has directed a sequel that captures the fun and comedy of the original. Far from being a mere money-spinner, Kung Fu Panda 2 has a great storyline and an abundance of jokes that will keep both parent and child amused. With Black lending his sarcasm and humour to the character of Po, and a voice cast laden with Academy Award winners, it is no surprise that this movie was a box office smash and the second highest grossing animation of 2011.
