After waking up from a coma, a female contract killer known only as The Bride (Uma Thurman, pictured) is devastated to learn that she is no longer pregnant with the child she carried before the incident that landed her in hospital.
Switching between flashbacks and the present day, the film follows The Bride's mission for revenge. She escapes from hospital, visits Japan in search of a new sword, and tracks down the people who betrayed her, including their leader Bill (David Carradine).
The highlight of the film takes place in a crowded restaurant in Japan where The Bride is pitted against former partner O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu) and her personal army. An extraordinary scene, it makes Quentin Tarantino's cross between Japanese Samurai films and Spaghetti westerns well worth watching.
