Anders W. Berthelsen, the new minister at a church in a Copenhagen suburb, befriends the local hotel manager, who's in love with the barmaid at Lars Kaalund's bar. Kaalund in turn is entranced by hairdresser Ann Eleonora Jørgensen while Berthelsen falls for Anette Støvelbæk who works in the local pastry shop... Lone Scherfig is the first woman director to make a film, as her delightful romantic comedy uses naturalism to track the intertwining lives of a disparate group facing life and love and all the accompanying wonders and woes.
