Happily married couple Diana (Demi Moore) and David Murphy (Woody Harrelson) find themselves at risk of financial destitution when the recession hits them.
Deciding to take a huge risk, they head for Las Vegas hoping to win on the tables. The gamble proves disastrous, but enigmatic millionaire John Gage (Robert Redford) offers the couple a chance to save themselves from financial ruin. His proposal: that Diana spends a night with him for in exchange for a million dollars.
