Seventeen-year-old Anton Tobias (Devon Sawa) has his life worked out: his average day begins with a midmorning joint, then there's a peek at the girl from next door and an afternoon of television watching.
However one Halloween morning he wakes to discover that both of his parents have been turned into two headless Halloween decorations.
After speaking to his equally irresponsible friends, Mick (Seth Green) and Pnub (Elden Ratliff), he discovers that his right hand has a blood-thirsty mind of its own and is hell-bent on wreaking havoc whether he likes it or not.
This is very black and very quirky. Jim Carrey trod a fine line in his portrayal of a schizophrenic in Me, Myself & Irene. Devon Sawa treads the same dark path here, wrestling with his limb as it hurls knives and grabs weapons. Lots of blood, gallows humour and murderous situation-comedy, with the hapless Anton distracting his hand by knitting frenetically.
