From Oscar-winning director Gabriele Salvatores comes this thriller that looks at a cruel coming-of-age for ten-year-old Michele. Michele and his family live amid the vast cornfields of southern Italy and, with his father Pino often absent on business, Michele explores the countryside. One day, in an abandoned house, he discovers a young boy, Filippo chained up and starving. Befriending and feeding the boy, Michele revels in his secret, little knowing that his father and his salubrious friends from the city are involved in a criminal conspiracy with Filippo at its heart.
