Oscar winner Cate Blanchett joins the cast as Hiccup’s mother in this stunning sequel to the animated hit.
After generations of discord, the Viking and dragon residents of Berk now live together in harmony, and Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) still has faithful fire-breather Toothless by his side.
Hiccup’s father Stoick (Butler) believes the time has come for his son to succeed him as chief, but Hiccup isn’t ready to leave his sense of adventure behind just yet. Alongside pal Astrid (Ferrera), he stumbles upon the fort of a dragon trapper named Eret (Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington) who, they discover, is in league with a maniacal conqueror (Djimon Hounsou) looking to form a dragon army. Hiccup is determined to halt what looks like an impending war, but his quest unexpectedly leads him to a much more personal, life-changing discovery.
While it may not be as high profile as the latest Pixar release, or have a gimmick to match Despicable Me’s Minions, DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon and its sequel have quietly earned gushing reviews and cleaned up at the box office in the process.
With spectacular aerial action, a rousing story and a loveable voice cast (that also includes Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Kristen Wiig), How To Train Your Dragon 2 is a thrilling adventure for all ages.
