Following last year's series, Stephen Merchant's comedy, following the hopeless romantic endeavours of an awkward Englishman in LA, signs off with a feature-length special.
We previously saw gawky web designer Stuart (Stephen Merchant) obsessed with infiltrating the glamorous Los Angeles social scene but, thanks to his cheapness and pettiness, was often no more than a mere onlooker. And things haven't changed much in this final instalment.
When Stuart learns that his ex-girlfriend is planning to visit LA with her new husband (who stole her away from Stuart a few years earlier, prompting his move to the States), the unlucky-in-love singleton sets out to impress them with his so-called glamorous lifestyle, enlisting a Russian model to play the role of his beautiful girlfriend.
No work of genius, however, the plan soon starts to unravel when the model cancels, leaving Stuart to convince flatmate Jessica to agree to be his 'girlfriend' for the night – a ruse that leads to unexpected encounters, including a run-in with Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman.
