Goodbye Charlie Bright (2001)

Directed by
Nicholas Love

This is the humorous and heartwarming story of the friendship between two teenage boys from a south London council estate. Set during a long, hot summer it charts their close but volatile relationship as it reaches breaking point and ultimately changes forever.

It is about boys being young, living life to the full. Parties, drugs, petty crime, chasing girls, fighting. The film is as uplifting as it is funny; the language, even the style of clothing is as authentic as you will see anywhere.

"It's set on a council estate because I grew up on one, but I'm not keen on the Ken Loach kind of council estate. My memories of estates are of a very colourful place." - Nick Love, Director.
