When US Air Force pilot Thomas Egan is reassigned from flying fighter jets on combat missions, he's given a new job, based in Las Vegas, remotely piloting military assault drones around the Middle East. The drones are used to detect and fire on targets, sometimes killing civilians. Egan discovers that the attitudes of his superiors and colleagues run the gamut from gung-ho fervour to moral conflict. And soon, Egan finds that the contrast between engineering death via advanced technology and the comfort of his life with his wife and family, and the mundanity of barbecues-and-beer socialising, is straining him to breaking point. Directed by Andrew Niccol and also starring Zoë Kravitz, Jake Abel and Bruce Greenwood. The film was nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. First screening on Channel 4.
