The iconic beast is reawakened in an epic blockbuster from the director of 2010’s Monsters.
Fifteen years after a tragedy at a nuclear power plant in Japan, bomb disposal expert Ford (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and his physicist father Joe (Bryan Cranston) are trying to get to the bottom of what really happened. As the truth slowly emerges it sets up an epic battle between man, a legendary monster and an even more fearsome new one.
After receiving widespread acclaim for his shot-on-a-shoestring breakthrough film Monsters, English director Gareth Edwards graduates on to directing perhaps the ultimate monster in this big-budget smash-hit. While there is of course some spectacular monster action, Edwards seems determined to ground this latest incarnation in reality, taking the time to balance the fantastical premise with genuine human drama.
