John Stephenson's family adventure is based on the classic children's novel by E Nesbit.
The First World War is underway and five London kids are packed off to the seaside when their father is dispatched to engage in the hostilities across the Channel.
Once at the coast, the siblings lodge with their mildly eccentric uncle Albert at his rambling mansion, where they delight in breaking his various house rules. Then, one day, while at the beach, they find an odd creature called It. They soon discover their strange new friend is a sand fairy who possesses magical powers, which the children aren't slow to take advantage of - with varying degrees of success.
