Roy Boulting

Seen as a thinly veiled biography of then-Labour leader Ramsey MacDonald, Fame Is the Spur stars Michael Redgrave as Hamer Radshaw, a young boy born in to the slums of 1870s Manchester who is taught how to become a true socialist by his grandfather. But Hamer becomes a politician and, once elevated to the heights of government, is corrupted by the power that surrounds him.
