Allan Moyle's movie is set in a record shop in a small town in Delaware, managed by Joe Reaves. When employee Lucas finds out that the owner has decided to sell to a multinational chain, he's horrified and decides to steal the day's takings and gamble it at Atlantic City to enable Joe to buy the shop and keep everyone in employment. Unfortunately, he loses the lot and so the staff not only have to find a way to cover the shortfall in takings but cope with the imminent in-store visit of MTV star Rex Manning as well as foiling a would-be shoplifter. Also on the staff are Liv Tyler, Robin Tunney and Johnny Whitworth, each with their individual quirks that makes them all the more loveable in this feelgood film from the director of Pump Up the Volume.
