Ostensibly a biographical drama depicting the life of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, this is no ordinary Hollywood biopic. With Jason Scott Lee (no relative) in the title role and adapted from the book by Lee's wife Linda Lee Cadwell (played here by Lauren Holly), at times the film is very odd, taking liberties with the story, drifting into ghost territory and becoming somewhat far-fetched.
Nevertheless it convincingly conveys the demons and private torment that probably led to Lee's early death in 1973, aged just 33. On that front alone the film is worth catching, but with a powerful performance from Scott Lee, some spectacular fight sequences and strong direction by Rob Cohen, it adds up to a must-see.
