This is the third instalment of the Die Hard thriller series, starring Bruce Willis as John McClane. Freshly expelled from the NYPD, McClane encounters a number of threatening phone calls from a terrorist calling himself Simon. The terrorist tests McClane's wits, and allows him the chance to stop each bomb by solving a riddle. In addition to using his previously learnt anti-terrorism tactics, McClane enlists an angry store clerk, Zeus Carver (Samuel L. Jackson), to decipher Simon's tricky enigmas.
Although lacking the tense, claustrophobic feel of the first two movies, this is a fine addition to the Die Hard franchise. Willis is on top form again in what is arguably his most recognisable role as McClane. Samuel L. Jackson is impressive as McClane's reluctant partner, while Jeremy Irons does good work as the token European bad guy.
Overall a good action movie and a fine sequel.
