Dev returns from London to his small town in Punjab, drawn by his love for his childhood sweetheart Paro. When he gets there, he finds he does not have the confidence or courage to marry her. He leaves for New Delhi where he turns to drink and drugs. A prostitute named Chanda finally saves Dev from a life that's spiralling out of control.
