Subterranean disaster movie about a former emergency services worker who attempts to lead a handful of survivors to safety from a collapsing New York road tunnel. A fleeing group of armed robbers collides with a truck carrying toxic waste, causing an explosion which destroys both ends of the tunnel, isolating a small number of people in the central section - and only one man looks able to lead them out of danger.
