Normal hospital life is interrupted when Dr Susan Wheeler (Geneviève Bujold) unveils a murder-for-body-parts conspiracy.
Wheeler suspects her boyfriend Dr Mark Bellows (Michael Douglas) may be in on the plot and Tom Selleck has a bit-part as a beefcake patient with desirable organs.
Bujold gives the finest performance of her career in this 1977 thriller, matching Sigourney Weaver's role in Alien, as a woman forced to be strong beyond her wildest imagination.
Directed by the late Michael Crichton, Richard Widmark is also on form as sinister surgeon Dr George A Harris. Highly recommended.
